New iPhone App, The Cartographer: Brings Google My Maps with Offline...

The Cartographer tightly integrates with Google's desktop-based custom map tools, for vacation planning on a familiar, easy to use platform. The resulting maps can be effortlessly accessed and edited on the iPhone. Users can also access their custom Google My Maps offline, an essential component for leisure and business travelers alike.

A Tasty Pixel Chief Technology Officer and heavy traveler Michael Tyson said, “We’ve created an app that we needed. We’ve been traveling since June 2009 and wanted a way to have the maps we made with Google My Maps, that detailed our travel plans, available on our iPhone. We developed The Cartographer as we traveled through Europe for eight months and have been using it the whole time. It’s truly been developed with the needs of travelers in mind.”

The iPhone app, which targets independent leisure and business travelers, offers users the ability to:

Plan Trips:
Plan trips on the desktop by plotting vacation ideas on Google My Maps

Execute Trips:
Sync Google My Maps with the iPhoneAvoid data and roaming charges with offline maps

Record Trip Information:
Leave virtual breadcrumbs to remember your adventures

Share Trip Information:
Share your trip with friends and family via email and Twitter

The Cartographer’s design and user interface effects are evocative of a romantic past, when maps were works of art. “Software should be beautiful and a pleasure to use”, said Michael Tyson. “The Cartographer combines antique cartography styling with cutting edge technology.” On the iPhone 4’s Retina display, The Cartographer flaunts stunning high-resolution graphics.

Device Requirements:
iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 3.1 or later
The Cartographer runs on the iPad and iPod Touch, but it is not specifically designed for these devices. Pseudo-GPS positioning is available only near some wifi spots. Similarly, positioning on the first generation iPhone is limited to cellular and wifi.

Pricing and Availability:
At a worldwide 50% off introductory price of $1.99 (USD), The Cartographer is available exclusively through the iPhone App Store in the Travel category.
