MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry Launches Digital Content Division

MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry, a Grand Rapids-based Internet marketing and web development firm, has launched the MINDSCAPE Content Division. The division brings branded online content development and management in-house, including keyword-focused web page content writing, social media strategy and management, and video concepting and production.

“The appetite for online content is huge,” said MINDSCAPE Co-Founder Pete Brand. “Every time someone conducts an online search, watches an online video or visits a website, they’re consuming content. If businesses and nonprofits want to successfully compete, their content has to be fresh, engaging and relevant—and it has to be aligned with their brand. If it’s not, their competitors will offer something that is. It’s a challenge to keep up.”

Since joining forces with Hanon McKendry in 2008, MINDSCAPE’s expansion has been focused on services that were not marketing priorities just five years ago, but are now in high demand.

“According to a recent survey, 59 percent of marketing professionals plan to increase spending on content initiatives,” explained Brand. “That’s up from 42 percent in 2008. Content spending is expected to comprise 33 percent of the average total marketing budget in 2010—and that number jumps to 40 percent when you look at small businesses.”*

A critical point of distinction among content service providers will be the ability to understand and express a client’s brand in the digital realm.

“Great branded content leads to great relationships with your brand. Relationships lead to trust, and trust leads to success,” contends MINDSCAPE Director of Branded Content Dawn Pick Benson. “Engaging content is critical, but the web is a crowded space. The key to success is creating optimized content that will elevate and distinguish an organization’s brand voice and then work to engage their audience across a variety of platforms.”

Content Division staff draws on Hanon McKendry’s 16 years experience providing strategic brand counsel for nonprofit, educational and corporate clients, as well as MINDSCAPE’s strong digital marketing expertise.

The division offers project-based content development and on-going monthly content services through a team of content writers and editors, SEO/SEM experts, social media strategists and a motion content director. The firm has added four staff members over the past few months to lead development of the new division:

Dawn Pick Benson, director of branded content, joined the agency with 12 years experience in journalism and marketing. She’s an award-winning magazine editor and marketing director who has served in the non-profit, higher education and corporate worlds, most recently as director of marketing and communications at Cornerstone University. She oversees strategic direction and administration of the Content Division.

Mike Schurr, creative director for motion content, provides creative direction and video production services for both Hanon McKendry and the MINDSCAPE Content Division. He brings nearly 20 years experience in photography and videography, animation, and creative direction to the firm, including work for Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation Studios and West Michigan creative agencies.

Christina Torri, social media coordinator, joined MINDSCAPE in August and has partnered with the management team to build out and implement social media strategy and management services. Following marketing positions at Verizon Wireless and National City, Torri received an MBA from Grand Valley State University with a focus in Internet marketing and social media.

Jonathan Michael, content client services, recently joined the agency from Zondervan, where he served in project management, content management and marketing positions for the international publisher’s Zonderkidz division. Michael serves as the lead contact for content clients as they go through the content review, direction, development and delivery process.

*According to a 2010 Content Marketing Spending Survey conducted by Junta42.

Soovox Launches Pioneering Integrated Influence Platform, Social IQ...

Soovox, (http://www.soovox.com), an award-winning influence marketing company announced today the open beta launch of Social IQ (Social Influence Quotient), an online social influence metric application that measures and rewards a user’s ability to sway others’ opinions and actions. In conjunction with its beta launch, Soovox is launching its “Search for the Star Influencer” contest and will reward the most influential user with a free MacBook Air on December 20, 2010.

Social IQ is a new consumer experience that combines fun social gaming elements with real rewards for a user’s social networking behavior. A patent-pending algorithm measures the user’s social web influence by tracking 3 main criteria to score their social influence: Reputation (authenticity, behavioral), Connections (passive, active), and Knowledge Authority (consumer, professional). Social IQ draws upon key social networks and bookmarking sites already in use –Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace – and calculates the user’s influence based on more than 50 variables that bubble up into their Social IQ.

That score then allows users to earn rewards and climb the seven levels of influence from “Newbie” to “Mogul”. Users can claim favorite brands, earn “Brand Ambassador” badges, and evangelize or rant about products and services inside or outside of the Soovox platform. Users receive corresponding privileges, rewards (payment, promotions, freebies and offers from their favorite brands) and access to Soovox challenges and contests as they influence others and see their Social IQ grow. One does not need to be signed into Soovox to grow their Social IQ; once registered, Soovox automatically tracks one’s influence on an ongoing basis. To learn more, check out the new Soovox video in this release.

“Social IQ has the potential to become the standard measure of influence for the social media industry,” said Akram Benmbarek, CEO and founder of Soovox. “Influential people have tremendous impact on their peers -- one Tweet or Status Update by a trend-setter can make or break a product in the mind of those who follow them. Online influence marketing is a $29 billion industry, yet until now nobody has built an efficient way for brands to easily identify, reward and interact with opinion makers online. Long-term, our mission is to amplify the voice of the consumer, and help brands understand how to harness the social web to create better products and services.”

Soovox is holding a contest this month – “Search for the Star Influencers”, which is about finding the stellar social influencers and rewarding them for ranting and raving about their favorite brands. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the contest will win an Apple MacBook Air. People can also earn a prize if they are the first to refer the star influencer who wins. The contest starts on November 18, 2010 and runs until December 20, 2010. For more information, please visit: http://soovox.com/starInfluencer/

AMX Launches Digital Signage Total Cost of Ownership Calculator, Takes...

Richardson, Texas (Vocus/PRWEB) December 13, 2010

AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced a total cost of ownership (TCO) calculator for digital signage installations. The first such tool in the digital signage industry lets buyers compare digital signage solutions and evaluate costs, both fixed and recurring. The TCO calculator also serves as an education vehicle introducing new buyers to the factors involved in digital signage deployments. AMX will be demonstrating the TCO calculator at Almo’s E4 AV Tour December 15 in New York City.

By simply inputting the features of two different signage products, the TCO calculator generates a cost comparison enabling potential buyers to make informed purchase decisions. Users can compare factors including buying versus monthly subscription service, software fees, maintenance, electricity costs, period of operation and size of deployment.

“A device like this can really benefit the marketplace as there are a number of options and variables that need to be analyzed and understood to make the best purchase in a digital signage deployment,” said Sean McNeill, AMX Vice President of Business Development. “As the digital signage industry is beginning to see explosive growth, organizations and businesses considering a deployment now have a source to educate themselves on the cost factors that come into play.”

The TCO calculator was created with input from industry experts such as InfoComm Academy Faculty Instructor and leading digital signage consultant Lyle Bunn. It introduces potential buyers to aspects of a deployment that they may not have contemplated. For example, companies must consider the alternatives of purchasing the hardware or a lease-like monthly subscription solution. Software cost and fees are assessed. And maintenance considerations are evaluated through noting the construction of the hardware, namely whether the solution is designed with solid state parts or moving parts. Moving parts, like a fan, may require repair or replacement during the deployment period.

The TCO calculator even analyzes environmental impact of players and employs wattage information to calculate electricity usage by location (state).

AMX is making the digital signage TCO calculator available free for any organization who wishes to upload it to their Website. To learn more about or use the total cost of ownership calculator, please visit http://www.thinkinspiredsignage.com.

Search Technologies Launches a Search Infrastructure for State and...

(PRWEB) December 13, 2010

Search Technologies, the leading independent provider of search engine implementation and support services, announced today the availability of a new search application for State and Local Government based on the Apache Solr open source search platform.

The new service provides similar functionality to the award winning Federal Digital System – http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys – developed by the United States Government Printing Office in cooperation with Search Technologies.

According to Kamran Khan, CEO of Search Technologies; “We believe that the work we’ve done with the US GPO over the past 2 years building out the Federal Digital System can be easily re-purposed for State, Local and City use. The synergies and potential cost savings are huge. Providing easy online access to public information, based on low-cost infrastructure, will help Government deliver value for money”

State and local government makes a wide range of information available to the public, yet it is often difficult for the public to find specific information when they need it, resulting in frustration for the user, and increased costs for government as people fall back on more traditional methods of contact.

The model used by the Federal Digital System provides multiple navigation options based on departments, state officials and other key information, to guide users and simplify the search experience.

About Search Technologies
Search Technologies is the leading independent provider of search engine implementation and support services. Operating internationally, Search Technologies helps clients to gain business advantage using search based applications. Our technical team of more than 80 experts is the most experienced group of search implementation professionals globally, and this mitigates risk for our customers.
