BayScribe Announces U.S. Transcription Cooperative: The BayScribe...

Edgewater, MD (Vocus) November 12, 2010

BayScribe, a leading developer of Clinical Documentation Solutions, announced today the formation of the BayScribe American Transcription Network (BATN), a cooperative of U.S.-based Medical Transcription Service Organizations (MTSO). The BATN is committed to offering a new brand of services to Hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks – all of which are made in the USA.

The announcement was made by Steven Bonney, Vice President of Business Development at BayScribe. "The BayScribe American Transcription Network provides solutions for major hospitals and IDN’s (Integrated Delivery Networks) which are seeking production-level U.S.-based medical transcription. Unlike any other cooperative or network, the BATN offers a 100% U.S. workforce of over 1,000 experienced MTs serving over 100 hospitals from an open platform.”

BayScribe, the industry's only cloud-based Clinical Documentation System, firmly believes that the BATN will provide the solution many healthcare networks are looking for after having taken transcription offshore in an effort to reduce costs. Ron Neuenberger, CEO of BayScribe added, “many hospitals have come to the realization that offshore medical transcription is not as inexpensive as they had believed, especially when you factor in the QA required and layer in the inherent HIPAA risks. They are ready to bring the work back home, where it belongs, and enjoy the quality and turnaround time they deserve, and we believe that this is a step in the right direction in fulfilling that need.”

The founding MTSOs agree that the BayScribe American Transcription Network is unique in its structure and provides new choices for Hospitals and IDNs. IDNs can contract directly with the MTSO, negotiate turnaround times, pricing, etc. and then have the MTSOs compete on quality without being wedded to their platform. Michele D’Ambrosio, System HIM Director of South Jersey Healthcare, offers her perspective, “holding the contract directly with BayScribe for the platform allows me to lower my overall transcription costs by not paying for Headers, Footers and Headings. Contracting directly with the MTSOs for the labor affords me the luxury of having multiple qualified transcription resources available without having to change vendors, and platforms, if quality or TAT is not up to par. I have control.”

For the founding MTSOs, Chris Hopkins, COO of Landmark Transcription, Inc. feels “that that the BATN is a great fit for Landmark. Landmark has always been 100% U.S.-based, and we believe this allows us to provide better quality transcription to our clients. With the BayScribe technology and BATN, we can partner with similar MTSO’s to leverage our MT capacity to serve the largest hospitals and health networks.”

Founding members include Oracle Transcription, Landmark Transcription, Oak Transcription ExecuScribe, Archivus, Main Street Transcription and DB Transcription, which collectively have been in business in medical transcription for over a century. A closer look shows the strength in the numbers:

Over 100 years in business as Medical Transcription Service Organizations     Over 1,000 U.S.-based MTs with a minimum 98% accuracy rate     Over 100 hospitals and hundreds of medical facilities currently being served

BayScribe and the BATN allow IDNs to balance their workload without unnecessary implementation costs of contracting with multiple MTSOs with their own platform(s). Implement the BayScribe platform once – one set of interfaces and distribution endpoints – and provide secure connections to in house MTs, BATN MTSOs or both. Linda Yaniszewski, CEO of ExecuScribe, Inc., added "we are very excited about the BayScribe American Transcription Network giving health care facilities the opportunity to choose a transcription partner with a domestic workforce for those who are committed to keeping their work in the USA. We feel this option will give them the quality, service and turnaround times they demand in these challenging times in health care. Our goal is to help our clients be successful while enhancing patient care and believe this partnership will do that."

Mr. Bonney summed it up with, “The feedback from HIM Directors of these systems has been so overwhelmingly positive to the value the combination of BayScribe, NLP (natural language processing) via the MedLEE Portal and the BATN provides; we couldn’t be more excited!”
